Harry Maguire left the field after seeming to suffer a groin injury during the first half of Manchester United’s must-win Champions league clash against Bayern Munich, with Luke Shaw also being substituted at half-time with an injury.
In what will be a big blow for Erik ten Hag, Maguire limped from the field after pulling up in some discomfort, holding his groin.
The 30-year-old, who had seemed to fall awkwardly sliding to clear a previous ball into the penalty area, received some treatment on the side of the pitch and managed to play on for several minutes before he was substituted for Jonny Evans.
While the nature of the injury is not yet confirmed, Maguire could now be a doubt for United’s crunch match against Liverpool at Anfield next weekend.
His absence will come as a big blow for United, with the defender having been a stand-out performer for the Red Devils in recent weeks.
Maguire was also recently crowned the Premier League’s Player of the Month for November alongside his manager Erik ten Hag.
He also proved pivotal in the first half, shutting down Leroy Sane who drove into the United penalty area with a mazy run, before Maguire stepped in to take the ball from him.
