Man United’s Alejandro Garnacho stuns Everton with a sensational overhead kick – as Gary Neville says it’s even BETTER than Wayne Rooney’s wondergoal against Man City in 2011

Alejandro Garnacho scored a sensational overhead kick to open the scoring for Manchester United less than three minutes into the game against Everton at Goodison Park.

Marcus Rashford passed to Diogo Dalot, who made a deep cross into the penalty area, where the Argentine met it with a magical overhead kick to send the ball flying into the top corner 15 yards from goal, leaving the home fans stunned and the visiting supporters in raptures.

Garnacho’s wonder goal was reminiscent of Wayne Rooney’s against Manchester City in 2011 – and Gary Neville suggested in the Sky Sports commentary box that it was even better than that spectacular effort.

Sky Sports’ lead commentator Rob Hawthorne said: ‘That is outstanding. A spectacular goal from Alejandro Garnacho.’

Neville picked up: ‘He can’t believe it, Garnacho. I can’t believe it.

‘I don’t think I’ve ever been in a stadium where I’ve seen an overhead kick as good as that, and I was there on the day Rooney scored in the Manchester derby. That was unbelievable, what we’ve just seen.

‘This atmosphere has been silenced somewhat. He moves back two or three short shuffled steps. Wow. That is a magical, magical goal. I think we’ll see that a few times.’
